Powerbrace Corporation
The premiere manufacturer of heavy-duty trailer swing door securement, Powerbrace Corporation, is celebrating its 50th year under the Powerbrace brand.
The brand’s roots date back to 1913 when it’s parent company, Miner Enterprises, patented the first locking bar, for use on rail cars (see attached illustration). The Powerbrace brand name was first attached to lockrods, hinges and other products for trailer door locking systems in 1960. Since then, Powerbrace has had a steady forward march through several decades of innovation, in first the truck-trailer/truck body industry and now the horse, stock and utility trailer segment. Powerbrace joined NATM in 1996 and has been a strong supporting member ever since. As a leader in NATM, Powerbrace has sponsored several industry events, including NATM’s annual convention activities.
Today the company’s product line includes complete factory-assembled lockrods, compression latches, hinges, kits and repair parts including cams, keepers, guide plates, rod guides, seal pins and plates, rivets and handle (lever) assemblies, what the company calls “more options; better solutions.”
All Powerbrace products meet the rigorous quality assurance standards set by the American Association of Railroads (AAR) (M-1003 Specifications).
Powerbrace enjoys a stellar reputation for quality and customer loyalty, the result of consistent levels of high performance in meeting customer needs while continuously providing innovative products that out perform competitors. Powerbrace’s growth is a direct result of their commitment to providing practical, cost-effective products.
For example, Powerbrace invented the zero-torque concept in lockrods that became the industry standard, first in a heavy-duty one-inch model, then introduced it as a narrow-header model (NH-NH) available in either the one-inch or newer ¾-inch version.
The main benefit of zero-torque design is that the more pressure that is applied to trailer doors from the inside (such as when animal weight is shifted against the door) the tighter the cams and keepers engage, providing the absolute most cargo security.
Because of the space-saving, narrow keeper design, Powerbrace lockrods can be mounted either vertically or horizontally in virtually any limited-space application.
The NH-NH one-inch model is well suited for heavy-duty use while the ¾-inch steel or aluminum version is better suited to medium-duty applications. A ¾-inch galvanized steel finger cam (FC) model lockrod is available, ideal for lighter-duty applications.
Powerbrace Corporation is a leading manufacturer of door securement systems, serving the truck-trailer, intermodal, specialty and truck body market segments for 50 years.
