My name is Marco Garcia, and I am the Director of Engineering Services at U-Haul International. I began serving on the NATM Board in 2017 and throughout my tenure have been also elected to the executive board, serving as Treasurer from 2022-2023 and then as President in 2023-2024.
I’m excited to be writing our second Board Bulletin for August and to be able to share a game-changing resource for our association members, the NATM Academy.
The NATM Academy, what is it?
The Academy was designed by industry experts and launched in partnership with U-Haul University. This powerful learning platform supports every facet of trailer manufacturing, from onboarding and compliance to leadership development and marketing strategy. Whether you’re training new technicians or strengthening your management team, the NATM Academy delivers real, measurable value.
How can it help members?
At its core, the NATM Academy offers exclusive, on-demand courses tailored to our industry’s needs. The curriculum includes training in Human Resources, Safety, Marketing & Sales, Leadership, and Trailer Technician skills. Most notably, our Compliance Verification Program (CVP) course provides a detailed walkthrough of the CVP process, helping manufacturers align with federal safety regulations and NATM standards, this course is designed to help members prepare for CVP consultations. Through our partnership with U-Haul University, we also have courses available that were created by U-Haul which are used in their employee training portal, named U-Haul University. Every course is self-paced, device-friendly, and designed for real-world applications.
