Committee Volunteer Assignments Open for the Upcoming Year
Committee volunteer positions for the upcoming year are now available, and enthusiasm for participation continues to rise! With interest indicators accessible to all NATM members and submissions due by November 25, this is your opportunity to help shape the future of our industry.
NATM’s committees serve as the backbone of the organization, guiding its efforts and ensuring that programs and opportunities genuinely benefit the trailer industry. Each committee plays a vital role in assessing and enhancing the resources and benefits that NATM members enjoy. The increasing number of volunteers each year reflects our community's strong commitment to advancing the industry. We are thrilled to announce brand-new committees: the Women Tow-Gether committee, Dealer Training & Technical Committee, and the Dealer Business Operations committee. Additionally, the Technical Committee and Compliance Committee will be merged to streamline the efforts of these dedicated individuals. The Association will also establish an ad hoc committee to focus on a specific project related to NHTSA data collection.
Becoming a Committee Member: Making a Meaningful Impact
Joining a committee goes beyond simply holding a title; it’s a chance to create a significant difference. Whether your interests are in finance, education, membership, or government affairs, there is a committee that aligns with your passions and expertise. Typically, each group convenes via video conference calls on a monthly or quarterly basis, enabling members to participate from anywhere.
Here’s a closer look at some of the committees and their objectives:
-
Finance Committee: Responsible for planning and monitoring NATM's finances, this committee ensures the association remains fiscally sound. They meet quarterly to review financials and make recommendations.
-
Membership Committee: Focused on recruiting new members and evaluating benefits, this committee plays a key role in member satisfaction and engagement. They generally meet every other month.
-
Education Committee: This committee drives industry education through workshops and webinars, curating programs that enhance member knowledge. They meet every two months, with most planning occurring between March and August.
-
Convention Committee: Tasked with overseeing the planning of the Annual NATM Convention & Trade Show, this committee recommends speakers and topics while working to increase attendance. They typically meet every two months.
-
Government Affairs Committee: This committee advocates for the trailer industry by raising visibility among key government officials and shaping relevant laws and regulations. Meeting as often as monthly, they engage members in building relationships with Congress.
-
Technical and Compliance Committee: Focused on regulatory issues and safety, this committee reviews technical topics and ensures that the necessary materials are available for end users. This committee will also review the Guidelines and recommend necessary updates. They meet quarterly, with additional meetings as needed.
-
Technology Committee: By serving as a forum for communication between manufacturers, this committee ensures that evolving technologies are functional across all vehicle types. They meet quarterly with ongoing collaboration.
-
NEW! Dealer Training & Technical Committee: Guide NATM’s educational and technical programming for dealers, ensuring resources, training, and events are relevant, actionable, and aligned with the realities of running a trailer dealership service department. The committee ensures dealers are equipped with both technical knowledge and broader educational training tools for business success.
-
NEW! Women Tow-Gether Committee: The Women Tow-gether Committee brings together women from across the trailer industry—including both manufacturers and dealers—to foster connection, mentorship, and leadership development. This committee is dedicated to supporting women in the industry, encouraging collaboration, and creating opportunities to grow both professionally and personally.
-
NEW! Dealer Business Operations Committee: Support the business and management side of trailer dealerships, focusing on profitability, efficiency, and long-term growth strategies.
- NEW! Data Insights Taskforce Committee: Join the Data Insights Taskforce and play a pivotal role in unraveling valuable insights from the NHTSA data. This is an exciting opportunity for detail-oriented volunteers to help retrieve and sort through crucial information that will contribute to important safety initiatives. As a limited-duration committee, you'll have the chance to make a meaningful impact in a short time. Once the project is complete, the taskforce will disband, providing a clear and focused commitment. Your expertise could be the key to unlocking vital data for a safer future!
